“It still pays to earn a college degree. But, not all college degrees are created equal.” While the unemployment numbers may look unsettling, a positive takeaway was that unemployment rates drop as employees gain more experience. Additionally, careers in math and science remain stable with relatively low unemployment.
The report shows the majors with the lowest unemployment:
- Nursing (4.8%)
- Elementary Education (5%)
- Physical Fitness/Parks & Rec (5.2%)
- Chemistry (5.8%)
- Finance (5.9%)
- Mathematics (5.9%)
The majors with the highest unemployment included:
- Political Science (11.1%)
- Film, Video, & Photography Arts (11.4%)
- Anthropology (12.6%)
- Architecture (12.8%)
- Information Systems (14.7%)
